Detroit Red Wings recall D Madison Bowey

That didn't take long. After just one game with the team's AHL affiliate Grand Rapids Griffins, the Red Wings have recalled defenseman Madison Bowey.

For the season, Bowey has scored a goal to go with adding seven assists in 22 games. While nobody on the team this season is sporting even a decent plus/minus rating, Bowey's -13 for the year so far cannot be ignored.

In his one game with the Griffins, Bowey contributed an assist. Although his defensive skills have always been in question, especially this season, Bowey does indeed possess some offensive ability.

Since coming to the Red Wings last season as a part of the trade that sent Nick Jensen to the Washington Capitals, Bowey has played in 39 games with Detroit. In that time, he has scored two goals and 10 assists.

Detroit's roster has been in a state of unrest lately, as general manager Steve Yzerman has been consistently tapping into the pipeline in Grand Rapids. Over the past few days, the team has seen Filip Zadina recalled, sent back down, and recalled again. Dylan McIlrath was sent back down and promptly called back up as well, and Dennis Cholowski was sent down.

To this point, the Bowey move is the only one that the Red Wings have seen today. But, there is still plenty of time between now and their next games, which is tomorrow evening in Montreal.
