Conversely, the Red Wings will be free of the $4.25 million and $3,166,667 cap hits of defenseman Jonathan Ericsson and Trevor Daley, respectively.

Overall, the club has $27.4 million in cap space with which to work, and GM Steve Yzerman has already hinted more acquisitions could be in the future.

Forwards Tyler Bertuzzi and Anthony Mantha are in need of new deals, and the latter has begun informal negations ; both can expect healthy raises from their $1.4 million and $3.3 million deals.
