Detroit Red Wings tweet at Tampa Bay Lightning after they win Stanley Cup

On Monday, the Tampa Bay Lightning took care of business by defeating the Dallas Stars 2-0 in Game 6 to clinch the Stanley Cup.

Following the game, the Detroit Red Wings took to Twitter to congratulate Steve Yzerman‘s former team.

On Saturday, during a conference call, Yzerman said he would be “thrilled” to see his former team win the Stanley Cup.

“I would be thrilled for them to win,” Yzerman said before the Lightning lost 3-2 in double overtime in Game 5.

“I’m not sure if it’s satisfaction but I would be really happy for the organization, Jeff Vinik, Julien BriseBois, the players, the coaching staff. That community is really a great little hockey market, a really cool community and they really embrace the Lightning.”

Now, it is time for Yzerman to bring the Cup back to where it belongs!
