When the Detroit Tigers are on the clock with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, they will have a very difficult decision to make as there could be a couple of pitchers available who everyone is drooling over.
Those pitchers, though, are in very different places right now.
The first of those pitchers is Jack Leiter who is currently pitching in the College World Series with Vanderbilt and the second is Jackson Jobe out of Heritage Hall High, Oklahoma City.
In a piece recently published in the Detroit News, Lynne Henning talks about how Leiter is currently the more polished pitcher as he has consistently faced solid talent in the SEC but that there is concern with his size (6-0 ft. tall) and how history has shown that the majority of pitchers 6-0 ft. or below have had durability issues.
Jobe, on the other hand, is 6-2 and has wowed MLB scouts as a powerhouse pitcher who could end up overpowering Big League hitters for a very long time.
Henning also notes that if the Tigers do go with Jobe that fans could get anxious because Leiter will be in the MLB much sooner and could have some early success.
