The Detroit Tigers Media Relations Department has released the names of non-roster Spring Training invitees.

The personnel rundown is as follows:

Pitchers

  • Alberto Cabrera (RHP)
  • Rafael Dolis (RHP)
  • Joel Hanrahan (RHP)
  • Tim Melville (RHP)
  • Luke Putkonen (RHP)
  • Omar Duran (LHP)
  • Joe Mantiply (LHP)

Catchers

  • Miguel Gonzalez
  • Austin Green
  • Grayson Greiner
  • Manny Pina

Infielders

  • Jordan Lennerton
  • Jefry Marte
  • Aaron Westlake
  • Josh Wilson

Outfielders

  • Xavier Avery
  • Jason Krizan

Players of special note include Joel Hanrahan, who is back in action following over a year of inactivity due to Tommy John surgery. In November, Jason Beck at MLB.com talked to Tiger president GM Dave Dombrowski, who said that Hanrahan, if healthy, is destined for the bullpen.

“We have re-signed Joel Hanrahan, which is great for us,” Dombrowski said. “He’s an additional guy in our bullpen. It’s a Minor League contract with a Major League invite. I talked to him on the phone [Thursday]. He’s in a position where he feels great, but he isn’t throwing at this time. But Dr. [James] Andrews says he’s healed and should be ready to go.”

Luke Putkonen is also back in camp after surgery. Last year, Putkonen pitched in 2 games for the Tigers before succumbing to a bone spur in his right elbow. He is expected to compete for a long reliever bullpen spot.

Pitchers and catchers begin training on February 20 with the rest of the Motor City Kitties reporting on February 24.
