Though we all knew it was coming, Detroit Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire made it official on Sunday by announcing that Matthew Boyd will be the starting pitcher on Opening Day.
The Tigers will open up the 2020 season on the road this coming Friday against the Cincinnati Reds.
In 2019, Boyd went 9-12 with a 4.56 ERA in 32 starts.
