Detroit Tigers assistant Jose Cruz Jr. reportedly departing for Rice University

He spent 60 games with the Detroit Tigers, and he’s now reportedly headed back to his alma mater.

Jose Cruz Jr., who served as assistant hitting coach with Detroit, will be heading back to Rice University to take the position of head coach according to multiple reports.

Cruz Jr. was a three-time All-American outfielder during his years at Rice from 1992-1995, and would go on to play 12 years in the Majors.
