The Detroit Tigers are in a spot where they need any help that they can get when it comes to the team's offense. They have been struggling to manufacture runs and score as an offense overall. But, the return of Austin Meadows to the team's lineup is only going to help them get a nice boost that is undoubtedly needed.
While the Detroit Tigers offense has been struggling as a whole in 2022, it's been a tough go for Meadows, who's been sidelined with vertigo issues. After going through some treatment and working back through a rehab assignment, he was able to re-join the team in Pittsburgh.
Perhaps the Tigers' best offseason addition, Meadows was off to a great start in the batters' box in 2022, which cannot be said about many of the Tigers' hitters. Meadows has logged 29 games for the Tigers in 2022, where he has slashed .257/.350/.333 with six extra-base hits and 11 RBI for the Tigers.
The Tigers have to be chomping at the bit to see if Meadows can get back on track and be the same hitter he was before he was on the Injured List (IL). He was seeing the ball exceptionally well, drawing 12 walks during the season thus far, only having 16 strikeouts on the season.

The Tigers were wise to add Meadows on the bargain deal that they pulled off with the Tampa Bay Rays. He provides a power bat from the left side that will ultimately help the team's lineup in the long run. He's got the ability to drive the ball well and will slot nicely in the middle of the team's lineup.
Meadows has had some ups and downs in his career, but the Rays opted to pull the plug on their corner outfielder. The Tigers are hoping that Meadows can still be a crucial piece of the team's lineup, which is simply going to just take time to see what happens.
With Meadows back in the lineup, the team should get a jolt of offense that may help them as they continue to try and salvage some offense out of a lineup ruled by Miguel Cabrera and Harold Castro. While Meadows may not have launched a home run yet this season, he should have one.
The Tigers and Oakland Athletics played a make-up game that was originally slated to be played in Oakland, but rather play it in Detroit with Oakland as the home team. This led to Meadows driving a ball to a deep right-center field, one that would have cleared the fence in Oakland and resulted in a triple in the Comerica Park's cavernous right-center gap.
