Detroit Tigers call up 3 top prospects, DFA Dawel Lugo

The future is now!

On Monday, the Detroit Tigers not only called up No. 2 pitching prospect Casey Mize, but they also called up Tarik Skubal and Isaac Paredes. In a corresponding move, INF Dawel Lugo has been DFAd.

Skubal will make his Major League debut on Tuesday while Mize will take the mound for the first time on Wednesday. Both games are in Chicago against the White Sox.

OH MIZE! DETROIT TIGERS CALL UP NO. 1 PROSPECT CASEY MIZE TO MAKE MLB DEBUT

Detroit Tigers fans, the moment many of you have been waiting for is finally here!

According to Tigers GM Al Avila, the Tigers are calling up No. 1 prospect Casey Mize to start Wednesday’s game against the Chicago White Sox.

Mize, who is 23, was selected by the Tigers with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft.

For those of you worried about the Tigers losing a year of control by bringing Mize up too soon, fear not. Since the season is now over seven days old, the Tigers (and any MLB team) can bring prospects up without it counting against service time.

In 21 games in Minor League Baseball in 2019, Mize was 8-3 with a 2.55 ERA while striking out 106 batters in 109.1 innings. Opposing batters only hit .203 off him on the season.

Here we go!
