Detroit Tigers chances of making 2020 playoffs may be about to get better

Ok, let’s not get crazy. We all know that the chances of the Detroit Tigers making the MLB Playoffs in 2020 are highly unlikely, even with a shortened season.

That being said, according to a report from Jon Heyman, sources have indicated to him that MLB and the MLBPA are re-engaging on the possibility of expanded playoffs from 10 teams to 16 teams for the 2020 season. As noted by Heyman, an agreement would have to be reached before Thursday’s Opening Day games begin.

Would the Tigers make the playoffs if 16 teams get in? Probably not, but when 60% more teams get in, that sure does give them a better chance! At least mathematically speaking.
