According to a report from the Detroit Tigers, they have claimed LHP Sam Howard off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Howard has been added to the Tigers' 40-man roster (which is now at 39) and optioned to Triple A Toledo.

As noted by Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic, Howard had a 5.60 ERA last year but lefties hit only .158 against him.
