On the day Justin Verlander was traded from the Detroit Tigers to the Houston Astros, we immediately posted an article predicting that he would be back with the Tigers for the 2022 season.
Well, the time is here and the Tigers not only need another veteran starting pitcher, but Verlander is a free agent.
Now, plenty have speculated that Verlander could eventually return to the Tigers but we have yet to hear that the Tigers are considering the move.
Well, according to Tony Paul of the Detroit News, the Tigers' front office “has strongly considered bringing Justin Verlander back since the day he was traded to Houston.”
Jon Heyman also recently mentioned that Verlander returning to the Motor City is an “interesting possibility” that he has heard.
Nation, is this going to happen?
Detroit's front office has strongly considered bringing Justin Verlander back since the day he was traded to Houston. The suits knew he'd be a FA about the time #Tigers were set to contend again. Now, the Tommy John surgery complicates that plan, for sure. https://t.co/EH5YqcOqPx
