According to MLB insider Jon Morosi, the Detroit Tigers are eyeing former National League MVP, Paul Goldschmidt, as a potential addition to their roster. Morosi reported on Monday evening that the Tigers have expressed interest in signing the free-agent first baseman.
Goldschmidt, 37, is two years removed from his 2022 NL MVP season, where he led the St. Louis Cardinals with stellar offensive numbers. In the 2024 season, he hit 22 home runs with a .716 OPS while appearing in 154 games for the Cardinals. His consistent performance over the years has made him one of the most reliable hitters in the league.
For the Tigers, adding a veteran bat like Goldschmidt could be a significant boost to their lineup as they look to strengthen their roster heading into the 2025 season. With his leadership and offensive production, Goldschmidt could provide much-needed experience to a young Tigers team and help anchor their offense moving forward.
As of now, the Tigers’ interest in Goldschmidt is still in its early stages, but the prospect of landing a former MVP could make a major impact for Detroit’s future plans.
