The Detroit Tigers are looking for their second straight victory this afternoon at Comerica Park against the Baltimore Orioles, but they’ll have to do so without the services of starting pitcher Michael Pineda.
He was struck on his pitching hand by a line drive from Baltimore’s Ramon Urias, a ball that left his bat with a 105.9 MPH exit velocity; it was only his 20th pitch of the afternoon.
He would meet on the mound with Tigers athletic trainer Doug Teter and manager A.J. Hinch, and it was soon determined that he’d be unable to continue on the mound. He would subsequently be replaced by Wily Peralta.
Looks like Ramon Urias line drive hit Michael Pineda on his right arm. He's leaving this game with one out in second inning. Wily Peralta enters for Tigers.

In five starts this season, Pineda has recorded a 3.22 ERA with four walks and 12 strikeouts. He’s in his first year in the Motor City after being signed as a free agent this past offseason by GM Al Avila.
