Jon Morosi is reporting that the Tigers are close to acquiring Nick Maton, Matt Vierling, and Donny Sands from the Phillies. The Tigers would reportedly send Gregory Soto and Kody Clemens to the Phillies if the trade is indeed finalized.
Nick Maton, who is a second baseman and is 25, has played in 86 games for the Phillies over the past two seasons. During that time, he batted .254 with seven home runs and 31 RBIs.
Matt Vierling is a 26-year-old OF/1B who played in 117 games for the Phillies during the 2022 season. In that time, he batted .246 with six home runs and 32 RBIs.
Donny Sands, who is a catcher, is currently the No. 21 ranked prospect in the Phillies organization. He is 26.
