Detroit Tigers option ‘instant fan favorite’ to Toledo following loss to Mariners

A week ago, John Schreiber got some news he had been dreaming about for a long time. The news was delivered by Toledo Mud Hens manager Doug Mientkiewicz and he told Schreiber to pack his bags because he was joining the Detroit Tigers.

The 25-year-old relief pitcher had been pitching in the Tigers minor-league system since being selected in the 15th round of the 2016 MLB Draft.

Schreiber, who was born in Wyandotte, MI, grew up loving the Tigers and when he joined the team, he became an instant fan-favorite.

When he finally got his chance to pitch, Schreiber was cheered wildly by the Tigers fans in attendance.

Well, for now, Schreiber’s shot has ended as he has was optioned back to Toledo following the Tigers loss to the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

We wish Schreiber the best of luck as be battles to earn his way back to the Majors.
