Just moments ago, the Tigers tweeted out a message thanking Granderson for the impact he made in Detroit and in the game of baseball.

Granderson began his career in the Motor City after being drafted by the Tigers in 2002.

He made his Major League debut in 2004 when he batted .240 in nine games.

Granderson’s best season with the Tigers came in 2011 when he batted .262 with 41 home runs and a league-best 119 RBIs. For his efforts that season, he was selected to the American League All-Star Team, finished No. 4 in the MVP voting, and was given a Silver Slugger award.

We join the Detroit Tigers in thanking Curtis Granderson for a great career both on and off the field!
