Detroit Tigers release lineup for series-opener vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

The Detroit Tigers have not played a game since dropping both games of a doubleheader against the Cincinnati Reds this past Sunday but that will change on Friday night when they play their first of three games in Pittsburgh against the Pirates.

Just moments ago, the Tigers released their starting lineup for tonight's game and as you can see, Matthew Boyd will be making his third start of the season.

In his first two games, Boyd has struggled on way to 0-1 record with a 7.20 ERA in 10 innings pitched.

Detroit Tigers release pitching rotation for upcoming series vs. Pirates

On Friday, the Detroit Tigers, who have been off since dropping both games of a doubleheader on Sunday against the Cincinnati Reds, will be in Pittsburgh to begin a 3-game set against the Pirates.

For those of us who are patiently awaiting the Major League debut of the Tigers top pitching prospect, Casey Mize, we will have to wait a bit longer as the pitching rotation for this weekend has been released and Mize’s name is nowhere to be found.

Instead, the Tigers will go with Opening Day starter Matthew Boyd on Friday, Ivan Nova on Saturday, and my preseason pick to be the Tigers best pitcher in 2020, Spencer Turnbull for the series finale on Sunday.

The Tigers currently sit at 5-5, which puts them fourth in the American League Central, 4.0 games behind the red-hot Minnesota Twins, who are off to a 10-3 start.
