If you have been following the University of Michigan baseball team, you are well aware that they will be playing in the College World Series in Omaha beginning this weekend.

But before the Wolverines take the field against Texas Tech at 2 p.m. on Saturday, another local team will have the national spotlight on them.

That team is the Detroit Tigers, who will square off against the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, the home of the College World Series.

The game, which will be aired on ESPN beginning at 8:05 p.m. EST, is part of a recent series of Major League Baseball games in non-traditional stadiums.

Ironically, this is the first time Michigan has been in the CWS since 1984, the same year the Tigers started off 35-5 and ended with their most recent World Series title.
