Though this does not come as a big surprise, the Detroit Tigers have officially shut down RHP Julio Teheran for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Tigers manager AJ Hinch made the announcement prior to Sunday’s finale vs. the Cincinnati Reds, noting that Teheran is getting evaluated and that his velocity never picked back up after he had shoulder surgery.
Teheran made just one start for the Tigers in 2021, as he picked up a win after giving up just one run and four hits in five innings of work on April 3rd against the Cleveland Indians.
