Just when you thought the Detroit Tigers were taking a break for Christmas, they were back at it on Monday. According to multiple reports, the Tigers have signed P Kervin Castro to a Minor League deal. Castro, who is 23, split time between the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants during the 2022 season.
Who is Detroit Tigers P Kervin Castro?
During the 2022 season, Castro posted a 10.22 ERA in 12 1/3 innings of work. That was quite the setback after he did not give up a single earned run in 13 1/3 inning of work in 2021.
Tigers’ new president of baseball operations Scott Harris knows Castro very well as Castro was originally signed by the Giants out of Venezuela back in 2015.
Castro will almost certainly start in the Tigers’ Minor League system, but it would not be surprising at all if we see him up at Comerica Park at some point in 2023.
