Detroit Tigers Starting Lineup vs. Guardians: September 24

Detroit Tigers Starting Lineup

The Detroit Tigers have announced their starting lineup for Wednesday night’s crucial matchup against the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.

After falling 5-2 in Tuesday’s opener, the Tigers and Guardians are now tied atop the American League Central with just five games remaining. With Cleveland holding the season-series tiebreaker, every game from here on out is essentially must-win for Detroit.

Detroit Tigers Starting Lineup

Tonight’s Tigers Lineup:

  1. Parker Meadows, CF
  2. Gleyber Torres, 2B
  3. Kerry Carpenter, DH
  4. Spencer Torkelson, 1B
  5. Riley Greene, LF
  6. Wenceel Pérez, RF
  7. Zach McKinstry, 3B
  8. Dillon Dingler, C
  9. Trey Sweeney, SS
    Starting Pitcher: Jack Flaherty

Detroit will hand the ball to veteran Jack Flaherty, who has the tall task of quieting Cleveland’s offense after José Ramírez and company broke the game open late on Tuesday. The Tigers will lean heavily on their core bats: Torkelson, Greene, and Carpenter to generate run support.

The Guardians, meanwhile, enter with all the momentum, and with the tiebreaker advantage already in their pocket, Detroit is fighting for its playoff life. A win tonight would set up a rubber match Thursday in what’s shaping up to be one of the most dramatic finishes in recent AL Central history.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:40 PM ET on FSD and 97.1 The Ticket.
