Game Notes:

The Tigers rebounded nicely from a horrible loss yesterday, to claim a 2-1 series-clinching win against the Boston Red Sox. Justin Verlander and Chris Sale were battling all day long, each of them pitching stellar into the seventh inning. JV gave up an early run, perpetrated by a Nicholas Castellanos error; while Sale pitched wonderfully, striking out 10 Tigers, until giving up a solo home run to Ian Kinsler in the bottom of the sixth. Castellanos got a bit of redemption, singling off of Sale in the eighth to drive in Andrew Romine, who took advantage of the opportunity to start, knocking two doubles off the Beantown Southpaw. Francisco Rodriguez and Justin Wilson combined to throw two scoreless innings from the bullpen, a nice thing to see after yesterday.

Next, the Tigers welcome the surprise of the early 2017 season, the Minnesota Twins to town for a three-game set, beginning tomorrow at 1:10 EST.
