There is no question about it that Matt Prater is one of the greatest kickers in the history of the NFL but in 2020, he struggled and many are questioning whether or not it is worth it for the Detroit Lions to re-sign him for the 2021 season or if they should go a different route.
Well, on Friday, the Lions announced they have signed K Matthew Wright to a Reserve/Future contract.

Wright, who played in 3 games for the Steelers in 2020, played his college ball at the University of Central Florida (same college as Prater).
During his senior season, he was 74/74 on extra points and 12/14 on field-goal attempts.
Nation, could this be a sign that the Lions are preparing to move on from Prater? Personally, I would be happy if they kept him around for another year if the price is right.
