Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell confirmed on Monday that cornerback D.J. Reed will “be down for a while” after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday’s 34–10 win over the Cleveland Browns.
The good news for Detroit: the injury is not season-ending. Campbell emphasized that Reed will return at some point this year, but hinted that a stint on injured reserve is very much on the table. “It’ll be close,” Campbell said, noting that the team will evaluate further before making the call.

With both Reed and rookie Terrion Arnold banged up, Campbell admitted the Lions may need to bring in another defensive back just to help with depth in practice. “We may need someone for help for practice,” he said, underscoring how thin the secondary has suddenly become.
The Lions’ defense has been a strength through four weeks, but the loss of Reed, who was playing strong football opposite Arnold, makes cornerback one of the biggest storylines to watch heading into Week 5 against the Bengals.
