The viral moment involving DK Metcalf and a Detroit Lions fan at Ford Field took another turn Sunday night, this time with the fan himself telling his side of the story.

During the second quarter of the Lions’ game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, CBS cameras caught Metcalf in a heated exchange with a fan leaning over the railing near the sideline. The fan was holding Steelers gear, and moments later, Metcalf appeared to throw a punch in the fan’s direction. While it wasn’t a clean hit, there was visible contact, and the clip quickly went viral.
Now, the fan at the center of it all has spoken.
According to the Detroit Free Press, the fan said he was caught completely off guard by how fast things escalated.
“I’m a little shocked,” the fan said. “Like everyone’s talking to me. I’m a little rattled, but I just want the Lions to win, baby.”
That fan later identified himself as Ryan Kennedy, a Pinckney, Michigan native, though not before having a little fun with the attention.
When first asked his name, Kennedy jokingly responded:
“My name is ‘Biggest Detroit Lions Fan Ever that got attacked by DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf.’”
Yes, that DeKaylin Zecharius Metcalf, Metcalf’s full name, which Kennedy claims sparked the confrontation.
“He doesn’t like his government name,” Kennedy said. “I called him that and then he grabbed me and ripped my shirt.”
Kennedy added that regardless of how things were said, the cameras tell the story.
“My words don’t matter because it was on camera.”
According to Lions officials, Kennedy was removed from the game following the incident. The team confirmed that stadium personnel were continuing to speak with him afterward as they reviewed what happened.
As of now, the NFL has issued only an initial procedural response, noting that no flag was thrown on the field, which prevented immediate action during the game. Whether the league takes further steps remains to be seen.
For Lions fans, it was a bizarre and uncomfortable moment during a high-stakes game — one that added an unexpected wrinkle to an already intense afternoon at Ford Field.

Wow kicked the guy out of game but dk can stay in the game? The nfl and New York always get involved whether flag is thrown or not, but now all of a sudden they can’t? Us fans are the ones who pay the entire nfls teams bills and payroll not sure why it’s okay to kick that guy out but let DK keep playing same old joke of the NFL but hey they don’t care! DK is nothing but a spoiled rotten scum bag and he showed that right there! If it was a women would he have been ejected? That’s a good question commissioner!! The point is your a pro keep your hands off the ones who pay your salary! The NFL is a joke when it comes to consistency
Press charges for assault!
Great idea!!!!!
If I was that fan and this is the truth, I would be calling the first Saul Goodman I could find and press charges. I would sue both DK and the Lions for pain and suffering on top of criminal charges. This was a public display of violence, there really is nothing that warrants a player to react like this and the Lions organization should be responsible for protecting their fans from harm in anyway. That dude paid a lot of $ to be there to cheer his team on and should never have been humiliating and attacked like this then tossed out in the cold like a piece of trash. I figure that’s good for season tickets and a couple hundred grand.
I’m wondering if they made a mistake in the story line. Reading the whole story it sounds like Metcalf got kicked out of the game, not the fan
Read it again. No indication in the report that the player was thrown out. Only that NFL said since there was no flag on the field or game stoppage they couldn’t take action on this incident. Which we all know what garbage that is!
The Steelers were a real class act. Not! In the 1st quarter, a Pittsburg defender, while on the field caught on camera, turned to the Lions sideline and flipped someone off. New York had to see it. The commentators mentioned it yet nothing was done during the game. He should be fined and Metcalf should be suspended for the rest of the season. Come on NFL, grow a pair!
Now it’s come out this guy has had run-ins with Metcalf before. Nice job, security. Like how you guys are defending some stalker.
