Things got heated during Sunday’s matchup between the Detroit Lions and Pittsburgh Steelers, and not in a good way.

During the second quarter, Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf appeared to get into an altercation with a Lions fan sitting near the sideline. Video of the incident quickly made the rounds on social media, showing Metcalf appearing to strike or shove a Detroit fan as tensions boiled over near the boundary.

The clip, shared by NFL on CBS, doesn’t show what led up to the moment, but it’s clear something was said or done that set Metcalf off. Still, any physical interaction between a player and a fan is going to raise eyebrows — and potentially lead to league review.

As of now, there’s been no official statement from the Steelers or the NFL regarding possible discipline. It’s also unclear whether the fan instigated the situation verbally or physically before the moment caught on camera.

What is clear? This is the kind of incident the NFL wants no part of, especially with phones everywhere and clips spreading instantly.

Expect this to be monitored closely in the coming days.
