“The Simpsons” has become a staple in American culture, and is currently the longest-running American sitcom, now in it’s 28th season.

During their latest episode, Bart Simpson becomes a basketball star at Springfield Elementary and gets involved in point shaving. Soon, a not-so-subtle jab at the Detroit Lions makes an appearance.

Ouch.

Of course, Lions fans everywhere are well aware of the team’s futility, having never won the Super Bowl and having just one playoff win since 1957.

This also isn’t the first time that the show has made a Detroit sports team the butt-end of a joke. A 2003 episode of The Simpsons entitled “‘Scuse Me While I Miss The Sky” saw TV anchorman Kent Brockman exclaim that “Springfield’s pro-darkness policy has resulted in a spree of vandalism unmatched since the Detroit Tigers made the playoffs over two centuries ago.”

Additionally, Homer’s neighbor and nemesis Ned Flanders was also once portrayed as the devil, while wearing a Detroit Lions t-shirt. And who could forget this scene?
