It’s only been a few days since the Detroit Tigers (finally) announced they were cutting ties with their former closer, Francisco Rodriguez.

After giving the aging relief pitcher every chance to show he still had what it takes to pitch in the Big Leagues, Tigers GM Al Avila finally made the decision to release Rodriquez.

According to a report from MLB insider Jon Heyman, Rodriguez could sign with the Washington Nationals as early as Monday.

While with the Tigers for 2016 and part of 2017, Rodriguez appeared in 89 games. During that time, he posted an ERA of 4.63 and had 51 saves.
