Draymond Green suspended for Game 5 following latest groin incident

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been suspended for Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals, according to numerous reports.

Green, a Saginaw native, was involved in an altercation with Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James late in Golden State’s 108-97 Game 4 victory on Friday.

After the two became entangled at half court with 2:56 remaining the fourth quarter, James attempted to step over Green, who responded by pushing James away and making contact with James’ groin.

The NBA has assessed a technical foul to James for the incident while applying a flagrant 1 to Green’s record for unnecessary contact. The flagrant ruling gives Green four flagrant points this postseason, triggering an automatic suspension.

Game 5 will be played on Monday at Oracle Arena in Oakland at 9:00pm ET. The Warriors currently lead the best-of-seven series 3-1.

By rule, Green will not be allowed to be in the arena during Monday’s game. However, if the Warriors win, clinching an NBA championship, reports state the league will allow Green to participate in the post-game celebration.
