DSN staff makes their predictions for Lions vs. Packers

The Detroit Lions host the Green Bay Packers at Ford Field on Sunday at 8:30 PM, and the game implications couldn’t be be higher. While Lions fans everywhere wait on pins and needles for this contest to get underway, let’s take a look at what the DSN staff is predicting.

Paul Rachon

Lions 23 Packers 21. After a fourth quarter Packers touchdown, the Lions find themselves down 21-13. A late touchdown brings the Lions within 1 when they inexplicably don’t go for 2 points because #JustJimCaldwellThings but all is well when Stafford drives the offense down the field one last time for another Matt Prater winner.

Jeff Bilbrey

Rodgers throws an improbable hail Mary for the win and Caldwell doesn’t put in Marvin Jones and Tate as safeties.

Julius Porter

Lions 34 Packers 27, Lions win shootout.

Don Drysdale

When OUR Detroit Lions take the field against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football, it will be for all the marbles. The winner not only will be crowned NFC North Division Champion, but they will earn a home playoff game. The Packers may have extra rest for this one, but the Lions have “Captain Comeback” Matthew Stafford. The Lions and Packers will be tied in the fourth quarter, but Stafford will lead the offense down the field and into field goal range for Matt Prater, who will hit a 43-yarder as time expires to win it 23-20.

Jeff Deacon

Packers 27 Lions 13. The Lions will rely way too much on Matthew Stafford and his injured finger and the red-hot Packers will win the NFC North. Aaron Rodgers will take advantage of Detroit’s injured secondary on their way to victory.

Alex Muller

Packers 24, Lions 20. Given the magnitude of the game for both sides, I expect a well-played back-and-forth game until the very end. Unfortunately, I cannot see anyone beating a red-hot Rodgers-driven Packers team right now. For me, the Lions will need some help to get in the playoffs.

Michael Whitaker

Lions 27, Packers 24. The Detroit Lions will finally break free from the “SOL” characterization and seal their trip to the playoffs. They won’t do it in a manner beneficiary to Lions fans with cardiac issues, however. Matthew Stafford will once again lead a late 4th quarter comeback leading to a Matt Prater game-winning field goal. Lions fans will then revel in watching Aaron Rodgers and company saunter off the field after having to watch them celebrate their last second Hail-Mary victory last year.

Ryan Griffin

Packers 27, Lions 20. Game will be tied at half. Pack will pull away in the second half. Lions score with 40 or so seconds left to cut the game down to 7. Pack recover onside kick and celebrate
