The team’s captaincy has been vacant the past two seasons following the retirement of Zetterberg before training camp began in 2018, the first year in their history that nobody wore the “C” on their sweater.
Larkin is a Waterford Township, MI native and grew up a Red Wings fan. He also attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and was drafted 15th overall by the Red Wings in the 2014 NHL Draft.
