Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is all about giving back to fans, and he was right there again earlier this week.

He joined Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom for the 8th annual SAY Detroit radiothon Thursday at Somerset Collection in Troy. In all, over $1.3 million was raised.

Stafford himself donated an autographed jersey, football, and helmet. Fans also had the opportunity to purchase a “keepsake film” that would show them receiving a pass from the Lions quarterback.

“I’ve seen some of the post-edit ones that have been put together and they’re pretty sharp,” Stafford said. “I’d be fired up to have one.”

“You shoot Matthew dropping back, he cocks his arm to throw, then we shoot you standing there, like a foot away and tosses you the football and you catch it,” Albom explained. “When you edit it together, it looks like he threw you a 90-yard pass.”

The funds go towards SAY (Super All Year) Detroit Family Health Clinic, SAY Play Center and Working Homes/Working Families.
