Could Eric Ebron soon reunite with the Detroit Lions?

Here we go…

Prior to the 2019 season, Detroit Lions GM Bob Quinn went all-in with the hopes of solidifying the tight end position on his roster. It began with Quinn signing former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Jesse James, who some were more excited about than others.

But Quinn was not close to being done as he somehow felt the need to spend the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft on Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson.

Well, James has not lived up to expectations and Hockenson spent a good portion of his rookie campaign nursing injuries.

Both Hockenson and James are expected to lead the way for the Lions as the No. 1 and No. 2 tight ends in 2020 but that does not mean Quinn will not keep his eyes open for some more help.

That being said, while browsing Twitter over the past few weeks or so, I have run across tweets suggesting the Lions bring back Indianapolis Colts TE Eric Ebron, who is expected to become an unrestricted free agent when the 2020 NFL calendar officially begins.

After parting ways with the Lions following the 2017 season, Ebron signed with the Colts and then proceeded to have his best season as a pro as he caught 66 passes for 750 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2018. For his efforts, he was selected to the Pro Bowl.

Unfortunately, for Ebron and the Colts, the 2019 season did not go well as he caught 31 passes for 375 yards and 3 touchdowns in 11 games.

So, could Ebron and the Lions be in line for a reunion?

Though some seem to think that signing Ebron would be a great idea, I disagree 100%.

For one, Ebron has made it pretty clear that he did not want to be in Detroit after he left following the 2017 season. In addition, though he is still capable of being a threat, I do not think he will be worth the money he will demand. The guy thinks he is an elite tight end and that is not the case.

I would be absolutely shocked if Ebron ever played for the Lions again.

Nation, what do you think?
