While there has been no indication from Detroit Lions management and ownership as to a coaching change following this season, one ESPN analyst has listed the Lions as being an attractive option should Matt Patricia ultimately not return.
According to Bill Bardwell, the Detroit Lions would feature the fourth most attractive option for “free-agent” coaches looking to fill vacancies in his list of nine potential openings.
“The draw for most coaches here will be Stafford, who provides a built-in floor as one of the league’s most consistently competent quarterbacks,” he explained.

“He’s a very good football player that not enough people appreciate, I think,” he continued. “Because the only conversation about him is always like he puts up good numbers but they never win — what else do you want from your quarterback, man? What else is he supposed to do?”
The Lions have three games remaining on their 2019 schedule.
