The list of high-profile departures at ESPN continues to grow.
After reports surfaced that longtime ESPN broadcaster Karl Ravech and NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero were expected to be part of the company’s latest round of layoffs, another familiar ESPN personality has reportedly been added to the list.
According to FOX Sports’ Ryan Glasspiegel, longtime injury analyst and fantasy football expert Stephania Bell is also expected to be laid off. Glasspiegel also reported that veteran SportsCenter anchor David Lloyd is expected to lose his position as well.
Karl Ravech’s Long ESPN Run Coming to an End
Ravech’s expected departure marks the end of an era.
The 61-year-old joined ESPN in 1993 and became one of the network’s signature voices, serving as the lead play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball, hosting Baseball Tonight, anchoring SportsCenter, and calling college basketball games.
According to reports, Ravech called Monday night’s Phillies-Dodgers broadcast before learning he would be part of Tuesday’s layoffs.
Tom Pelissero Among NFL Network Casualties
Pelissero is another major name expected to be affected.
The longtime NFL Network insider has been one of the league’s most plugged-in reporters for years, but ESPN’s ongoing integration of NFL Network has reportedly led to significant restructuring across both organizations.
Much of the current round of layoffs is expected to impact NFL Network employees as the two media operations continue to merge.
Stephania Bell Also Reportedly Out
Bell has long been one of ESPN’s most respected voices on injuries and fantasy football, regularly appearing on NFL Live, Fantasy Football Now, and numerous other ESPN platforms.
Her reported departure represents another significant loss as ESPN continues reshaping its on-air lineup.
More Familiar Faces Reportedly Affected
In addition to Ravech, Pelissero, Bell, and David Lloyd, The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand also reported that longtime NFL Network analyst Charles Davis is expected to be let go. Davis, however, will continue in his role as CBS Sports’ lead college football analyst for Big Ten broadcasts.
Earlier this week, ESPN also parted ways with NFL analyst Ryan Clark, making this one of the company’s largest rounds of talent cuts in recent memory.
The layoffs come as ESPN continues consolidating operations with NFL Network following its acquisition earlier this year, while parent company Disney is also expected to implement broader workforce reductions.
