Former NFL GM Michael Lombardi declared on his podcast “The GM Shuffle” that he’s heard from an unnamed source that Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford’s back hasn’t fully healed, and that fans should expect to see the Lions with the first overall selection in next year’s NFL Draft.

“I hear Matthew Stafford’s back still isn’t 100%…I hear he still has back troubles,” he said. “I mean, they have no backup quarterback….they’ve got nothing behind him. How could they not be a lock for the first overall pick based on where they are with their roster?”

“I was told late last night that Matthew Stafford is not really 100%, and may not be 100% for a while,” he continued.

The topic was discussed on “The Valenti Show” Monday afternoon:

In addition to hosting his podcast, “The GM Shuffle”, and also was a assistant coach with the New England Patriots and former NFL Network analyst.
