Don't look now, but we are less than two weeks away from some Detroit Tigers players reporting to Lakeland, Florida for Spring Training. After a disastrous 2022 season, Detroit will look to take a step forward in 2023, and it will all start on Opening Day, which will take place on March 30Â with a road matchup against the Tampa Bay Rays. FanGraphs has released their Opening Day starting lineup for the Tigers, and a VERY familiar face is not included.

Spring Training Report Dates
Major League Baseball has announced the Spring Training report dates for all teams.
- Pitchers and catchers participating in the World Baseball Classic (WBC) must report on Feb. 13
- Those not participating must report on Feb. 15
- Position players participating in the WBC must arrive by Feb. 16
- All other players reporting for the full-squad workout on Feb. 20
Fan Graphs projects 2023 Tigers Opening Day Lineup
FanGraphs has released their projected Opening Day starting lineup for the Tigers and it is as follows: (Do you notice who is missing from the lineup?)

Bottom Line about Miguel Cabrera
As you probably noticed, future Hall of Famer Miguel Cabrera is not included in the lineup listed above. Instead, he is listed as one of the Tigers' bench players for their first game of the 2023 season. As we know, Cabrera has already said that the upcoming season will be his last as a Major League Baseball player, and because of that, I would be ABSOLUTELY SHOCKED if he is not in the lineup when the Tigers take on the Rays on March 30th.
