Dan Campbell had a golden opportunity on Sunday as the Detroit Lions hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Minnesota Vikings.
Unfortunately, despite not trailing for the first 59 minutes of the game, the Lions did what so many Lions teams have done before by throwing a win away as the Vikings scored a last-minute touchdown to steal a 28-24 victory.
Following the game, Detroit Lions HC Dan Campbell spoke to reporters and he admitted that he regrets his decision to kick a field goal rather than going for the first down on the Lions’ second to last possession of the game.
“For me, I freaking regret my decision there at the end. I should have gone for it there on fourth down,” Campbell said. “I told the team that, I should have gone for it.”
“I regret that decision 100 percent, I really do. I hate it. And I do feel like I cost our team,” Campbell said. “I really do, man.”

Do you blame Dan Campbell, who made the head-scratching decision to attempt a 54-yard field goal rather than either punting or going for a first down with just over a minute left in the game? As you can see below, 76% of voters believe Dan Campbell is most to blame, while 9% put most of the blame on Amani Oruwariye, and 8% said they blame Austin Seibert the most.
