Inside the Article:
Tonight, the Detroit Red Wings will take on the Calgary Flames in Detroit with puck drop set for 7:30 PM on Bally Sports. The Red Wings will get one of their forwards back as Filip Zadina makes his return from a lower-body injury, he suffered in the Red Wings' 3-0 win over the New York Islanders back in November.
Why It Matters:
Zadina has only played in nine of the Red Wings' games this season. He has not made an impact on the offensive side of the puck for this team.
- He has zero points this season.
- He is a +/- of -3 in nine games on the season so far.
Filip Zadina's return and impact on the Red Wings
With the return of Zadina, someone must sit out tonight and that will be Dominik Kubalik, which is a surprising move. Kubalik is second on the team in points with 34, however, he has not found the back of the net since January 19th.
This is the first time the Red Wings have been fully healthy at forward this season. Zadina’s best statistical season was last year when he scored ten goals and 14 assists for 24 points in 74 games, over his career he has played in 169 games scoring 25 goals and 36 assists for 61 career points.
Time may be running out for Zadina as a Red Wing but with his return tonight hopefully he can start to find his game and turn into the player the Red Wings hoped he would be when they drafted him sixth overall in 2018 NHL draft.
