I have a feeling we are going to be hearing about today’s game for a while.
With the Tigers holding a 9-6 lead in the 8th inning, Wilson hit Todd Frazier with a fastball that brought the benches onto the field for the third time.
During post game comments, Tigers’ Alex Wilson admitted that he plunked Yankees Todd Frazier on purpose.
“At that point in the game, it was something that had to be handled,” Wilson told Jason Beck of MLB.com.
While not an unexpected answer – there is no doubt that Wilson will likely see a fine, and perhaps (deservedly so) a suspension for his retaliation.
Meanwhile, a furious Joe Girardi called out Tigers Manager Brad Ausmus for allegedly saying “F-You” to Brett Gardner during the first scrum of the afternoon.

“And then Brad Ausmus is going to say F-you to one of my players. I mean, come on Brad, what is that?” Girardi told reporters.
Finally – Miguel Cabrera spoke at length about the incident that started it all

What a day at the ballpark. Check out all the reactions including DSN’s own Tigers Editor AJ Reilly.
