Absolutely devastating news to report.
A small plane crashed in Lafayette, Louisiana en route to Atlanta for the Peach Bowl matchup between LSU and Oklahoma. No details are yet available on the cause of the crash.
The plane, a two-engine Piper Cheyenne, crashed about a mile from the Lafayette Regional Airport shortly after takeoff.
Among the deceased include the daughter-in-law of LSU offensive coordinator Steve Ensminger, Carley McCord. Another passenger who survived the crash was taken to the hospital, while three people who were injured on the ground were also hospitalized.

McCord served as a freelance broadcaster for several networks, including Cox Sports Television, ESPN3 and WDSU in New Orleans. She also served as an in-game host for the New Orleans Pelicans and the New Orleans Saints.
