As the trade rumors continue to circulate regarding long-time Detroit Tigers ace, Justin Verlander, we thought it would be fun to take a stroll down memory lane to when J.V. was just a young pup.

In fact, let’s go all the way back to July 4, 2005, when Verlander made his first career MLB start for the Tigers, against the Cleveland Indians. Specifically, you are about to take a look at what was the first strikeout of Verlander’s MLB career.

Wow! Check out that baby face on J.V.!

Verlander struggled in that first appearance, giving up four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings of work, as the Tigers fell 6-0 to the Indians.

As we know, that performance did not dictate his future with the Tigers. Fast forward to the present.

As of July 25, 2017, Verlander has an overall career record of 178-113 and has racked up an astounding 2,317 career strikeouts, while posting a 3.52 ERA.

If we have seen the last of Justin Verlander in a Tigers uniform, he sure has given us some incredible memories.
