Detroit Red Wings captain Steve Yzerman missed the majority of the 2002-03 season after undergoing major arthroscopic knee surgery, but was healthy and on the roster to start the following campaign.

And he sure made the most of Detroit’s home opener at Joe Louis Arena against the Los Angeles Kings. After taking a behind the back pass from Ray Whitney in the right face-off circle, Yzerman snapped a shot past a stunned Roman Cechmanek with 1.7 seconds remaining in regulation, giving Detroit the 3-2 victory:

Easily one of the most exciting ends to a Red Wings home opener for anyone lucky enough to have been in attendance!
