Detroit Red Wings defenseman Brendan Smith was victimized by a high hit to the head from Philadelphia Flyers forward Brayden Schenn.
Schenn appears to be trying to avoid Smith, but wasn’t able to, and made clear and dangerous contact with his head. Smith left Detroit’s bench for the dressing room, but returned for the third period. No penalty was called on the play.
The hit was labeled “weird and interesting” by NBC’s Mike Milbury. However, Sportsnet’s John Shannon has since reported that Schenn will not be facing any supplemental discipline for the hit.
There will be no SD for Flyers' Braden Schenn in respect to his hit on Red Wings' Smith.
