When the Detroit Lions announced they would not be bringing back tight end Eric Ebron for the 2018 season, many fans rejoiced. After all, Ebron seemed to have more dropped passes than clutch catches and that is unacceptable for a player drafted in the top 10.

Other fans (myself included), felt like letting Ebron walk without a viable replacement would hinder Matthew Stafford and the Lions’ offense in 2018 and I was right.
Ebron, on the other hand, went on to sign with the Indianapolis Colts, where he caught 13 touchdowns passes and was selected to the NFL Pro Bowl.
Now, the former Lion has his sights set even higher. In fact, he thinks the NFL record for touchdowns by a tight end is within reach.
From The Herald Bulletin:
“I believe Gronk still holds the record for most touchdowns (by a tight end), which is 17,” Ebron said Tuesday at the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center. “So if I want to do anything that’s gonna be real spectacular or anything that’s gonna be really good, I gotta go get 17. And if I go get 17, what do I do? I help my team win games. I did that, proved that and I feel like if I’m at my best, I feel like this team will be at their best.”
Not surprisingly, plenty of fans (probably Lions fans) on Twitter had some fun with Ebron for even mentioning himself and an NFL record in the same breath.
