BAM! Former Detroit Lions QB Dan Orlovsky calls out Matthew Stafford haters

Whether you love Matthew Stafford, hate Matthew Stafford, or are indifferent to Matthew Stafford, you have to admit that he did not play his best game on Thanksgiving Day as the Detroit Lions lost to the Minnesota Vikings 30-23.

When all was said on done, Stafford completed 20 of 35 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns, but it was some of the plays he did not make that made it difficult for the Lions to beat a very good Vikings team. Not only did the Lions signal-caller miss Theo Riddick on a screen pass that would have been a guaranteed touchdown, but he also overthrew an open Golden Tate down the middle on what also may have resulted in six points on the board.

Following the game (and during it), the Stafford haters were out in full force on Twitter telling us just how bad he is and how he is not earning his paycheck.

Heck, this dude was still thinking about Stafford this morning.

One person who has been a consistent supporter of Stafford is former Lions quarterback, Dan Orlovsky. After watching Dak Prescott the Dallas Cowboys get dominated by the Chargers last night and reading through some of the negative Stafford tweets floating around, “Danny O” had a message for the haters.

Orlovsky is 100% on the money with his defense of Matthew Stafford. That fact that Stafford has managed to lead the Lions to the NFL Playoffs in two of the past three seasons is amazing considering he has not had a running game to help him out.

That being said, the haters are always gonna hate!

It was no surprise whatsoever but on Monday the Detroit Lions were finally able to announce Matt Patricia as their next head coach.

Patricia, of course, is the former defensive coordinator of the New England Patriots. On Sunday, the Patriots lost in Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles in what was one of the greatest Super Bowls in NFL history.

  1. Anyone who blames the quarterback for yesterday’s loss doesn’t deserve to watch football anymore – or anything for that matter. Donate your eyes, because your brain is obviously incapable of processing what you see, and those eyes could be put to better use for some old man or child who needs a new cornea. It boggles my mind to think that after this entire season and last there are still people who hate on Stafford. Please name me one QB who regularly throws for 250+ without a competent run game to back him up. I’ll save you the trouble: Aaron Rodgers. And GB still has a historically better run game than Detroit. Stafford is the only other guy who does it. The Lions have been a one dimensional team for years, and yet they still have winning records. Their playoff hopes are not yet shot, dim as they may be.

This ain’t on Stafford. It ain’t on coaching. It’s on the lack of talented backs and blockers up front. How many sacks allowed? How many negative run plays does it take for the blinders to come off of this fanbase? Offensively, we need blockers and backs – PERIOD. The draft should focus on this again, and the defense fixed through a combination of draft picks and free agency.

  2. I’m a life-long Lions fan. My buddy was crying all over the place about the refs cheating on the Vikings and helping the Lions on this game. I told him to stop being a sore winner. Did anybody else see this?
