Former Detroit Lions RB Ameer Abdullah claimed off waivers

On Tuesday, news broke that the Detroit Lions had waived running back Ameer Abdullah. It was a move that did not surprise many as Abdullah has had issues with fumbling and he was never really able to correct the issue.

Well, a day later, reports are that Abdullah has been claimed by the Minnesota Vikings.

As much as we would like to wish Abdullah the best of luck, we just cannot since he will now be in the same division as the Lions!

Rich Gannon thinks Matthew Stafford is an overpaid loser

Let’s face it, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford is a lightning rod. Some believe he is an elite quarterback in the NFL while others believe he is to blame for the Lions inability to get over the hump.

One former NFL signal-caller who is not a big fan of Stafford is CBS Sports Network analyst Rich Gannon.

On Monday, Gannon said he is “sick and tired of talking about Matthew Stafford” and he claimed Stafford is one of the main reasons why the Lions are currently in last place in the NFC North.

From the Detroit Free Press:

“The guy is overpaid,” Gannon said. “He’s been one of the highest-paid quarterbacks over the last four or five years and he’s a stat king. He picks up a lot of yards and production in garbage time.”

Prior to last season, Stafford signed a 5-year, $135 million contract, which made him the highest paid player in NFL history at the time. That contract has since been surpassed by Aaron Rodgers, Kirk Cousins, and Jimmy Garoppolo.

Gannon had a career passer rating of 84.7, Stafford currently sits at 88.7.

Nation, what do you think? Do you agree with Rich Gannon or has he lost his ever living mind?
