Polarizing former Detroit Lions tight end Eric Ebron has found himself a new home, inking a free-agent contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He’s spent the last two years with the Indianapolis Colts, where he earned the wrath of that fanbase as well.
And while Ebron was known to throw some shade at his former home in the Motor City, he had a nice thing to say about former teammate Matthew Stafford – with whom he combined for 11 touchdowns during his time in Detroit – as he talked about his excitement over getting to play with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
“I loved Stafford man. Stafford was elite. Andrew was out of this world and I know Big Ben – from everything that I hear from everybody around him – his level of thinking is equivalent to all of those guys. We’ll be on the same page. Really just to play with him is really an honor, and as long as I can do my part and be the type of tight end I don’t think he’s ever had at the position, honestly, for a guy of my ability, I believe that it’ll be fun.
“And I hope that we can exploit a lot of people and do a lot together.”
While Lions fans don’t exactly have the warmest of memories of Ebron, it’s good to see him give a shoutout to his former teammate.
