In what took Detroit Tigers general manager Al Avila 28 appearances to realize, the Washington Nationals noticed in just five minor league games.
That’s right folks, former Tiger closer Francisco Rodriguez has been released for a second time this season, this time by the Nationals.

Prior to being released by the Tigers, Rodriguez was given every opportunity in the book to improve but it was not meant to be. As mentioned earlier, K-Rod appeared in 28 games for Detroit, posting a 7.82 ERA while allowing nine home runs in just 25.1 innings of work. The nine dingers in a season ( a partial season in this case) is a total that is higher than all but two of his 16 seasons in Major League Baseball.
At 35-years-old, Rodriguez is not exactly over-the-hill in terms of a relief pitcher but unless he can figure himself out, his future as a baseball player could be in jeopardy.
